Tonja Ancrum is a Breast Health Research Champion (BHRC). A BHRC has the ability to supplement breast health awareness sessions by educating the community on the importance of research and bio-specimen donation. As a BHRC and Breast Cancer survisor, Tonja speaks to various groups reference breast health proactive prevention, her story and introduces four core messages in environments that are comfortable and well received, for example: home, family reunions, senior health centers, local and national sorority meetings, churches, restaurants, schools, work lunchtime, and online.
Tonja received her training from Massey Cancer Center at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. All credit for creating the four core messages goes to the VCU Massey Cancer Center Health Education staff.
