WOMEN'S PREVENTIVE HEALTH
The Well-Woman Visit: What to Expect Each Year.
One yearly visit that keeps your health on track, even without insurance.
A well woman visit is your yearly check in for preventive care. Here is what happens, and how uninsured women can get one free.
- Free Cancer Screening
- Scholarship Support
- Future Leaders Development
Think of the well woman visit as one appointment that protects the whole year. It is the heart of preventive care, catching small issues before they grow. For uninsured women, this visit can feel out of reach. EAESSI helps you get the screenings that matter most at no cost.
What happens at a well-woman visit?
A well woman visit usually includes a clinical breast exam, a pelvic exam, a review of your health history and a talk about your risks. Depending on your age, it may include cervical cancer screening with a Pap or HPV test, and a referral for a mammogram.
It is also your chance to ask questions and set a plan. Nothing on the list is meant to embarrass you. Your provider does this every day.
How often do I need one?
Most women benefit from a well woman visit once a year, even when they feel healthy. Some screenings happen at every visit and others on a schedule, so your provider will tell you what you need and when.
