The real cost
Paying cash adds up. Free options exist.
Here is what a mammogram without insurance usually costs, and why that number should not stop you.
How much is a mammogram without insurance?
A 2D screening mammogram without insurance can cost from under $200 to more than $300, according to GoodRx. Follow up imaging costs more. Eligible uninsured women in Virginia can get screened at no cost through Every Woman's Life.
The mammogram cost changes by facility. Hospital imaging departments usually charge more than freestanding centers. A 3D scan adds to the bill.
If the first scan shows something unclear, a diagnostic mammogram or ultrasound comes next. That second bill can be higher than the first. This is why the free route matters. It covers the first scan and the follow up.

Women come to us from very different places. The path to a free mammogram starts the same way for all of them.
"I lost my job and my coverage."
This is one of the most common reasons women reach out. We check your options in one short call.
"I've never had a mammogram."

"I'm scared of what they'll find."
Most breast changes turn out not to be cancer. Finding out early gives you more choices if it is.
"I have a plan but can't pay my share."
A high deductible can feel like no coverage at all. Tell us your situation and we will look at grant options.
